Antecedentes:

• Será la primera vez que John Cena, Ted DiBiase y Cody Rhodes estén en un Hell in a Cell.
• La gran jaula (CELL) mide 6 metros de altura y pesa más de 5 toneladas, puede considerarse una «megajaula», de casi el doble de tamaño que la «normal».
• El formato de match «Hell in a Cell» era poco común en WWE, sólo 16 encuentros se habían disputado, con Triple H y The Undertaker presentes en la mayoría de las ediciones, la existencia de este PPV, deberá garantizar de 2 a 3 nuevos encuentros cada año.
• El «Hell in a Cell» debutó en 1997 con el match Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker (encuentro de 5 estrellas del Wrestling Observer), de hecho, era para obtener al retador número 1 de Bret Hart (Que posteriormente derivó en el Montreal Screwjob).
