Continuando con la discusión acerca del gran número de campeonatos que el CMLL maneja, y nuestra sugerencia de unificar el de tríos, el compañero Rob nos envía un muy buen análisis, cuyo texto original en inglés, se reproduce al final de esta nota:
El problema es que el CMLL no se preocupa de sus títulos, así que si se unifican, terminaría con que nunca hubiera nuevas defensas. Vean a los títulos nacionales de Tríos durante esta década, incluso desde el año 2000 los cinturones han quedado vacantes cerca de 5 ocasiones sin ser defendidos. ¿Qué pasaría si el CMLL unifica los cinturones nacionales y mundiales CMLL?, quizá no volveríamos a ver encuentros por los títulos.

Así que mi voto es mantener dos juegos de cinturones, WWE tiene dos títulos mundiales, NJPW tiene dos títulos de parejas, aunque si en verdad quieren combinar cinturones, por qué no hablar de unificar los de Minis:
- Campeonato de Minis CMLL
- Campeonato nacional de Minis
- Campeonato nacional de peso ligero
O los de mujeres, que son los siguientes:
- Campeonato Femenil CMLL
- Campeonato Nacional Femenil
Sobre todo porque los minis y las mujeres sólo tienen una lucha por función, ¿Para qué necesitan dos o tres títulos?, al menos en tríos, hay montones de encuentros en cada función, y el roster es tan grande que permite, o debería permitir, a muchos luchadores diferentes, una oportunidad por un título.

Si bien estamos de acuerdo con prácticamente todos los puntos del texto de Rob (excepto con las menciones a WWE, que tiene un roster más grande, y a NJPW, que tienen mayores diferencias de peso en el roster), hay que aclarar que no deseamos que los títulos de Tríos del CMLL sean los únicos unificados, nosotros proponemos que TODOS los títulos del CMLL sean revisados y revitalizados, pues hoy día, pocos aficionados conocen quién tiene qué campeonato.
Empezar por el título de tríos es una gran opción, porque son los que han tenido más defensas recientes y que están en poder de dos equipos fuertes que podrían dar un match que interesara fuertemente al público:
- Tercias Nacional: Poder Mexica (Black Warrior, Sangre Azteca y Dragón Rojo Jr.) vs Tercias CMLL: La Mascara, Hector Garza & Hijo del Fantasma.
The problem is CMLL doesn’t care about their titles so if you unify the two belts it could end up with them never being defended again. Look at the National Trios Titles in this decade. Ever since the year 2000 the belts have been vacated about 5 times and often the champions don’t even defend their belts. What happened if CMLL unifies the CMLL Trios and Mexican National Trios belts? We may never see a title match or again or they might just vacate it whenever they want new champs. At least by having two sets of titles they can keep one of them active.
It’s also hard to have one specific set of trios champions when you have awful bookers. They could wake up tomorrow and decide Black Warrior needs to be in Los Guerreros and he’ll never team with Dragon Rojo and Sangre Azteca again! I’m pretty sure that’s how this will end up because the bookers just focused on putting this random team together, getting them a title match and giving them the belts. They never thought any further than that. They never do. I guarantee these three guys won’t be teaming my March and these belts will have to be vacated.
So my vote is to keep two sets of trios titles. WWE has two world titles. New Japan has tag champs and junior tag champs. If you really want to fight about combining titles – why not talk about the CMLL Mini’s Title/Mexican National Mini’s Title/Mexican National Lightweight Title? Or the CMLL Women’s Title/Mexican National Women’s Title? The mini’s and women only have 1 match per show anyways, why do they need two or three different titles? At least with the trios titles you have lots of trios matches on every show and the roster is so big that it gives (or should give) lots of different wrestlers a shot at fighting for a title.
