Aunque aparentemente, la WWE estaba tomando con seriedad los Slammy Awards 2008, eliminando las categorías de broma, y nominando incluso a luchadores fuera de la empresa, como Ric Flair, el Wrestling Observer anota que al parecer sólo fueron una continuación de los ángulos actuales, sin que hubiera un análisis serio de quién merecía ganar.
Por ejemplo:
- Santino Marella no podía ganar ningún premio, porque su personaje es para quejarse «de que debió haber ganado» y que la gente se pudiera reír.
- Chris Jericho habría ganado el Superstar of the Year para dar mayor interés al match ante John Cena en Armageddon, y poder hacer un buen promo al respecto.
- Incluso el Match of the Year fue para Michaels y Flair para continuar el ángulo con JBL.

- Couple of the Year: Edge y Vickie Guerrero
- Diva of the Year: Tha Glamazon, Beth Phoenix.
- Oh My God Moment of The Year: CM Punk cobrando su dinero en el banco ante Edge
- Match of The Year: Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels
- Dawn Moment of the Year: Khali Kiss Cam.
- SuperStar of The Year: Chris Jericho
