Ha llegado el momento del choque. Esta noche, todos los campeonatos de Smack Down Live! serán defendidos. ¿La razón? La celebración de Clash of Champions 2017.
Jinder Mahal se enfrentará a AJ Styles por el Campeonato de la WWE, en lo que supondrá el combate de revancha del maharajá.
Además, dos de las mujeres más poderosas en la actualidad colisionarán para mostrar, de una vez por todas, cuál es la verdadera reina de SmackDown Live! Charlotte Flair defenderá su Campeonato Femenil frente a Natalya.
Estos y muchos más combates sucederán esta noche. Una noche donde todas las Superestrellas tendrán un objetivo común: Ser un campeón. Es propicio, por tanto, que ese objetivo y el tema oficial de Clash of Champions 2017 coincidan. ¿El resultado? Champion, de The Roots.
Exceptuando la edición pasada, en la que el tema fue Bulletproof, de Young Guns; la palabra Champion ha sido especial en este evento o parecidos. Durante muchos años, el tema oficial de Night of Champions era Champion, de CFO$, por ejemplo.
Años más tarde, la compañía ha decidido seguir la tónica de antaño; esta vez con un grupo cuyo recorrido por el mundo musical es amplio. Hablamos de The Roots.
Posiblemente, los que leen estas líneas asocien rápidamente al grupo con el Tonight Show, con Jimmy Fallon, donde son la banda residente. Sin embargo, sería un error pensar así.
The Roots se formó en el año 1987, en un instituto de Philadelphia. Unos compañeros de clase formaron un grupo con la idea de cambiar el mundo. Años más tarde, tras muchas subidas y bajadas, The Roots tuvo su primera oportunidad: El lanzamiento de su primer disco, Organix, que supondría un éxito tal, que la banda llegaría a tocar en Alemania, donde grabaría un concierto en vivo.
Desde entonces, el grupo se volvió imparable. 12 discos. Nominaciones a MTV Video Music Awards; Bet Awards; el logro de un Grammy a la mejor canción… y sí, la unión irrompible con el presentador Jimmy Fallon; que comenzó en 2009; cuando el show que Fallon dirigía se llamaba Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, hasta el formato actual.
Sin embargo, uno de los logros que el grupo no había conseguido era poner voz a un evento de la WWE. Esta noche, este hecho cambia; con Champion. A continuación, les adjuntamos el vídeo y la letra de la canción:
